What does X stand for today?
Thank you to everyone who reached out and suggested creating a backup account or moving to Nostr in case I get suspended here.
But honestly, I find it deeply disappointing that I already have to think about where to go next in case I am suspended.
Wasnât X supposed to be the platform for free speech?
Instead, I am watching researchers, journalists, independent voices and ordinary users disappear, while other accounts with obvious alt profiles spend their time labeling people as âMossad agents,â âbots,â âforeign assetsâ or âcoordinated networksâ without evidence.
The smears remain.
The accusations remain.
The gaslighting remains.
And too often, it seems the people being targeted are the ones who disappear.
That is backwards.
Before I start creating backup accounts somewhere else, I want to ask a simple question:
What does X stand for todayâď¸
A platform where people can challenge powerful figures, ask uncomfortable questions and express unpopular opinions?
Or a platform where coordinated accusations are enough to silence independent voices?
I am not asking for special treatment.
I am asking for the free speech that was promised.
Because if people begin censoring themselves out of fear that a handful of accounts and people can get them suspended, then free speech is already being lost.
And that should concern everyone, regardless of politicsđď¸
